Asparagus shoots have arrived, spring greens are flourishing and even strawberries are shifting colors in the fields. Tables at the Farmers Market of the Ozarks (FMO) are busting with spring colors and good eats. The market, which operates year-round on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., is adding Wednesday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., May through September, to provide shoppers with better service.

“We are pleased to be adding Wednesday mornings this year to provide customers more ways to shop local,” said Klaire Howerton, FMO Market Manager. “The new weekday hours will provide more access to local foods and we will be offering a variety of cooking classes, kid’s activities and gardening demonstrations on Wednesdays.”

The market has grown steadily since opening in 2012. FMO was named the number sixth farmers market in the country by Food52 in 2015, voted the Best Outdoor Event in the region by 417 Magazine’s Best Of 417 and named the best farmers market in Missouri by both Missouri Life and FEAST Magazines.

FMO accepts SNAP (food stamps), debit and credit cards, making shopping easy and convenient for everyone. Customers wishing to shop at the market can use their cards by going to the Market Info Hub inside the pavilion and ask market staff to swipe their card. Customers are then given market tokens to spend just like cash with vendors.

Market will also be offering a food subscription program called the FMO Foodie Box as part of the Wednesday morning market. Businesses and customers can join this personal shopper program for weekly pick-up services at the market. Bags of seasonal local foods will be put together and available for pick-up or delivery. For more information about this program and upcoming events, farm to table fundraising dinners, market classes and more go online to LoveYourFarmer.com.
