It’s crunch time! Christmas is almost here. Did you forget to get a gift for the teacher? Did someone forget to tell you your son’s girlfriend was coming for Christmas? Do the kids want to go Christmas shopping for YOU but you refuse to go to the mall? Farmers Market of the Ozarks has you covered with a fantastic selection of cool gifts for under $30 and a relaxed family-friendly environment to do your shopping.

Reborn Co has an excellent variety of scented candles priced from $22 to $28 that make perfect gifts for a teacher or secret Santa.  With catchy names like “All The Jingle Ladies” and “Peppermint ‘Elf’Spresso” their Christmas scents would make any recipient joyful. You can also get a candle in a cute coffee mug that can be enjoyed all year long.

Blue Heron Farm is taking their classic Farm-In-A-Box and dressing it for the holidays.  Filled with eggs, sourdough bread, mushrooms, salad mix & microgreens, this decorative and delicious box is just $25. What hostess wouldn’t love that? They will also be selling gift cards for a Farm-In-A-Box, perfect to stuff in someone’s stocking.

Swan Creek Crafts can delight any cook with their beautiful hardwood kitchen utensils. Pair a new spatula with the cookbook for your sister or give a pair of exotic wood chopsticks to the budding gourmet in your family. Almost everything they sell is under $30, so stop by and see what spoon catches your eye.

Maze Ceramics has a gift you can match with that new spoon, a spoon caddy for $28. Matt is also making mugs and oil bottles for that special someone on your list for only $20 each.

You can also get cozy sweater mittens for only $13.

Leaky Roof Meadery will make you the most popular person at the party. If you’re unfamiliar, mead is an alcoholic beverage created from the fermentation of honey, water and yeast. It’s not beer, it’s not wine and it’s naturally gluten-free! They always have a variety of flavors to choose from with gift boxes ranging from $20-$30.

Shopping Local for Holidays

By | FMO Gift Ideas, Food, Market Events | No Comments

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it might seem easier to rely on big box retailers to fill your holiday needs, but this is just a friendly reminder that you CAN choose to shop local for the holiday season!

Our farmers market is open year-round on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm, and we have just about everything you need to make your holiday season a success. By choosing to shop local you stimulate the local economy, are supporting individual families, and getting to know where your food is actually coming from!

Some ways to think local this Thanksgiving:

  • Source your meat from a local farmer. Many of our vendors have a wide array of meats available – from chicken to duck to turkey to beef. Stop by on a Saturday and chat with them about pre-ordering what you need. Then you can pick it up the week of the holiday and skip the big grocery store crowds!
  • Skip the baking this year and snag some delicious baked goods from one of our bakers at market. This is also something you can pre-order and even order custom desserts that your family will love!
  • Get your fixin’s from our producers! From potatoes to squash, our producers show up to market year round and have a great selection of seasonal produce available or you. They can even give you some of their favorite tips on how to prepare it!
  • Condiments, condiments, condiments. From spices to honey to jam – we have got it ALL!
  • Shop our artisans for your gifts! We have some of the most talented artisans in the Ozark region offering everything from hand-poured candles to unique linens to hand carved wood items. Their items are one of a kind and come with a story!

Shop Local For the Holidays

Shop Local

It’s that time of year again! The Christmas tree is up, the lights are twinkling, and you are trying to figure out what to get the special ones in your life for Christmas. While your first inkling may be to start browsing online or visiting big box stores like Walmart & Macy’s, we have a better idea – shop local! There are so many benefits to supporting local small businesses and producers, and we would like to highlight just a few this holiday season.

1) Support the Local Economy

One of the biggest benefits to shopping local is you are pouring your dollars back into YOUR local economy. What this does is provide more jobs and long-term sustainability for the economy, as well as enable your tax dollars to actually benefit you because the bulk of what you spend will stay local.

2) Know Where & Who You Are Purchasing From

Shopping locally allows you to better understand the products you are purchasing. You can ask questions, find out more about how products were made, grown, or sourced and hear more of the heart behind these local businesses. You can be proud of the purchases you are making because you get to develop an actual relationship with your small business owners and vendors and know the processes behind the products that you buy.

3) Product Variety & Quality

Let’s be honest – they just don’t make ‘em like they used to! Supporting local artisans and craftsman allows your gifts not only have a story, but also be individual and of the highest quality. When you buy handmade spoons or original pottery, you know that there is not another piece in the world like it because it was carefully and intentionally made by hand. There is also more variety at the local level, because local businesses are more in touch with what you actually want, whereas big box retailers purchase and sell the same merchandise all over the country regardless of what region you are in.

We hope you will consider shopping locally with us this holiday season! Farmer’s Market of the Ozarks is open year-round and we have tons of local products and produce to meet all of your holiday needs.
