SPRINGFIELD, MO, Friday, January 30, 2017 – During American Heart Month and in support of the Go Red For Women movement, the Farmers Market of the Ozarks (FMO) has partnered with the American Heart Association (AHA) to bring the Red Dress Dash to Farmers Park on Saturday, Feb 4. Registration for the event will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the market plaza, and the dash starts at 10:00 a.m. Emcee Paul Adler with KY3 News will provide highlights of the event.

“The Red Dress Dash is a wrap-around event that raises funds to support Go Red For Women during Heart Month.  It’s a fun run that promotes awareness and healthy lifestyle choices,” explained AHA Corporate Events Director Dana Werdehausen. Participants can register for free, or register and purchase a shirt for $25. Registration is available online at or participants can register the day of the Dash.

“We are honored to be the host sponsor of the Red Dress Dash this year, to support the world’s largest network of women standing together to save women’s lives from heart disease,” said FMO Executive Director Lane McConnell. “What better of a place to hold the event than at FMO, where our vendors bring a variety of healthy, local foods to our community every week.”

Special highlights of the event include:

  • Diva Closet: An area where participants can borrow red items to use during the dash.
  • Tribute Stickers: A way people can honor or memorialize someone that has suffered from heart disease or stroke.
  • Diva Lounge: At the finish line, there will be a festive atmosphere for runners to enjoy beverages and food to fuel up.

About the Farmer’s Market of the Ozarks:
Farmers Market of the Ozarks is a non-profit organization that offers consumers a full-range of locally grown farm products from a 150 mile radius of Springfield.
