Summer Farm to Table Dinner Welcomed 200 Guests

DSC_0316The excessive rain didn’t stop us from hosting our third Summer Farm to Table Dinner at Ballou Farm in Ozark, MO., on June 20, 2015. We welcomed 200 guests to Dave and Sharon Ballou’s farm and the evening was warm and sunny- unlike the week’s rain and storms that went through the Ozarks.  We were fortunate for a beautiful day for our dinner festivities.

The Ballous, which are FMO vendors, were our host farm and entertained guests with a farm tour of the farm’s cattle, llama and hydroponic greenhouse operation.  (The llamas were quite the stars of the evening with the children and adults alike.) Guests commented on how much they enjoyed the tours that Dave Ballou presented and how interesting it was to learn about hydroponic agriculture.  Guests came away not only with a plate full of delicious, locally-inspired foods, but a new found appreciation for the local farmers that produce their foods.

Besides the educational farm tours, guests enjoyed a four course meal, local spirits and the sweet sounds of Mark Bilyeu and Cindy Woolf- which were their perfect musical pairing for our event.

Course 2: Summer Market Salad from New Horizon Farm

Course 3: Wood-fired oven pizzas from Firelight Pizza Company
Local products from Quickly Prodice Farm, PT Gardens, Millsap Farm, Wild Bunch Farm, Landers Lean Meats, Terrell Creek Farm, Willow Mtn. Mushrooms

Course 4: Dessert: Ronda’s Peach and Cherry Fried Pies with Benissimo Vanilla Bean Gelato
Local products: Ronda’s Fried Pies from Norwood, Ozark Mountain Orchard, Benissimo Gelato
